Examining Saudi EFL University Students’ Readiness for Online Learning at the Onset of Covid-19 Pandemic

Nowadays, especially after the COVID-19 crisis lockdown, heavy reliance on technology and online platforms led to a greater expectation of more learning autonomy among English learners in EFL contexts such as Saudi Arabia. The sudden shift requires an investigation into students’ readiness willingness for mode learning. This can provide educators with many prospects about outcomes achievement assessment, test performance, interaction during classes. Therefore, current study seeks contribute well-known area learner research, which is still lacking context study, by exploring first-year undergraduate towards education. Participants’ level identified according their autonomous behaviors activities. will also assess investigated concept considering influence gender field participants levels. A total 802 students participated this study. It was found that university are moderately autonomous, both males females have similar levels aptitude taking responsibility learning, English-major non-English-major groups showed comparatively across different dimensions. Yet interestingly, displayed relatively lower than other majors.
